Dr Bengtson graduated in 1999 from the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.  He successfully completed his National Service where he worked within a small team of doctors providing essential medical care for surgical, medical and obstetric patients in a rural South African hospital.

In 2001, he emigrated to the UK and gained extensive experience in multiple specialities including medicine, surgery, A&E and psychiatry before settling into a staff grade post in psychiatry at Leighton Hospital in 2004.

His varied clinical practice made him ideally suited to enter the GP training programme in 2007 where he rotated through attachments in A&E, cardiology, obstetrics, paediatrics and urology.  Following successful completion of his training, he obtained a GP partnership in Crewe where he worked for five years before joint Ashfields in 2016.

His interest are in psychiatry, joint injection and musculoskeletal medicine.
